A Child is Praying!

November is National Adoption Month

While many of you might be unable to adopt a child in the USA at this time, perhaps you can consider becoming the next best thing to a parent to a waiting child in remote Kenya. A child is praying, are you the answer to their prayers?

In a nation where 1 out of 5 children are orphans, New Beginnings is located in the district with the highest death rate and infection of HIV/AIDS. In that district it is estimated that over 90% of the population in our remote area are infected. With polygamy and wife inheritance in place, it makes the death rate and orphan rate sky rocket.

New Beginnings Children Center has over 160 children living at the center with another 200 children on a waiting list to be sponsored and in need of care. International adoption in Kenya is almost impossible and takes many months and lots of money BUT for as little as $20 per month, you can make a difference in the life of a waiting child. No long forms to fill out, no training and lots of clearances to complete. Just a heart to help a child.

When a child is admitted to New Beginnings they are given a place to live, food to eat, medical care, and a Christian education. The children can grow and learn with guidance from those who care for and love them. They can learn from those who understand their culture and where these children have come from.  The ultimate goal is to see them become self-sustaining members of Kenyan society, who are followers of Christ. In a nation where Islam is working hard to get a strong hold, Kenya still remains a society of basically Christians. With your help we can stop the tide of Islam in that nation of Africa and help an orphan at the same time.

Please join us this month in making a commitment to $20 or more to help a child. It is easy to do. Visit our child sponsorship page to meet a child in need. Some children need full support ($80 per month) and some need partial support($20-$60 per month). Whatever God is leading you to give, do so with a cheerful heart knowing that God loves a cheerful giver, and all of your donation goes to helping the children.

If you would ever like to journey with us to this beautiful part of the world and visit your child, we and they would be happy for you to do so.  See our Missions Page for more info!

Calendar of Events

Now is the time to schedule a missionary to speak with your church or group in 2016. Hear about life on the mission field but more important, hear about the miracles that God is doing every day at New Beginnings Children's Center in remote Kenya.
Email or call to set up a date.

Operation Christmas ShoesThrough November we will be accepting donations for "Operation Christmas Shoes." Our goal is to get each child at New Beginnings a new uniform, shoes, and socks to start the 2016 school year. To reach our goal we need $25 for each child(X 160 children) or a total of $4000. Any donation given towards "Operation Christmas Shoes" will help us reach our goal. Please mark your donation "Operation Christmas Shoes."

Expedition 2016

What will I do on a mission trip? That is often the question. The answer...what is God calling YOU to do?

From construction to VBS, to medical care, to sharing the Gospel. Our teams have done it ALL. What is God calling you to do? Not sure...take a step of faith and see what God shows up to do. It will be more than you ever dreamed or imagined.

Our missionaries stay in missionary housing of brick construction on the secure grounds of our children's center in a very remote area of Kenya. Spend time immersed in the culture and lives of those who call New Beginnings HOME. Show the Love of Jesus with the community. Change their lives AND change your life...FOREVER!

The team for January 2016 is preparing to go. Please keep them covered in prayer.

Missionary News

Papa John has been very busy at New Beginnings this past month. Everything from reviewing and setting up financial records, to dealing with discipline problems, visiting many people and the list goes on. It seems there is never a dull day when you spend your time doing God's work.

During his time at New Beginnings he was able to visit with the Governor. He was received very favorably and the Governor seemed very positive about helping New Beginnings. The Governor planned to visit New Beginnings but because of rain making the roads impassable when he was expected, he was unable to visit. We hope that he can come at a later date and anticipate that visit.

Recently John worked toward getting better solar power set into place, hoping to provide more power for the center and possibly make having a refrigerator a reality in the next couple months.

WOW! Refrigeration on the hill. Hard to imagine. This will make life just a little easier for missionaries and our administrative staff.  What next!?  Like many of our missionaries to New Beginnings, when you are there without any appliances, you can't help but ask each other, "If you could have one appliance what would it be?" Refrigerator is right up there with washing machine or an oven. Only in remote Kenya would you discuss the value of modern appliances.

School News

New Beginnings Primary School
This is the final month of school for the 2016 school year. It is the month that our grade 8 candidates will sit for the all important K.C.P. exams. It is a time that those who have made it to grade 8 have dreamed about and anticipated. It is a time of anticipation but also a time of anxiety. The results of these exams spell out their future.

For many in this remote community, grade 8 will be the end of their formal schooling. For those who do well, it means they will progress onward and upward to secondary school. For those who live at New Beginnings, it means going on to secondary or trade school, depending on their scores.

The goal for those who live at New Beginnings has always been to see them become successful members of Kenyan society. This can be accomplished in different ways and we offer several opportunities for our children. Please pray for all the children as they take final exams this month and prepare for a break from school until the new school year starts in January.

The 2015 KCPE Candidates

New Beginnings Secondary School
Our secondary students continue to work hard to show great improvement in their scores. This year New Beginnings Secondary School will not graduate any students since we currently only have classes to Form 3 (grade 11).

Beginning in 2016, New Beginnings will add classes to make possible the Form 4 class(grade 12) and hopefully will add other electives to their curriculum such as computer training, chemistry, etc. Please pray for our students and staff to see the goal is not in achieving but always in learning. That they may become lifetime learners.

Building News

Our grounds/maintenance staff has been busy working on leveling an area for a large water storage tank for New Beginnings which will be placed next to the concrete community water storage tank. The same staff have also been busy leveling more garden areas to enable New Beginnings to grow as much as possible to feed the growing number of children living on the hill.

Work on the classrooms has come to a standstill until the funding is available. Please join us in praying for the funds to build 2 more classrooms for the primary school, complete finish work on another secondary classroom, and to begin work on the new kitchen and dining hall that is greatly needed.

We appreciate all the prayers and donations for building to continue.
To God be the glory for all that has been accomplished this year.

Child of the Month

Meet Sharon!

Sharon is 13 and is a total orphan. She attends grade 6 at New Beginnings primary school. Life has been very difficult for Sharon since her parents death shortly after her birth. Sharon came to live at New Beginnings on an emergency request. She was living with her sister but her sister's husband was physically abusing her and often she would come to school with bruises. Since coming to live at New Beginnings her health and her life have gotten better.

She is doing well in school and is typically in the top of her class. Her best subject is English and she speaks the language very well. Sharon hopes to become a nurse one day in order to help others who are sick. She has a promising future now.

Sharon is in need of a $20 per month sponsor to be completely sponsored. Please pray for Sharon to find a sponsor. Is God calling you to help Sharon?
