January 2016 Newsletter

You are of more value than the sparrows! Luke 12:7

This is how God feels about all of us including the forgotten orphans of remote Africa. Take a look!

What an amazing year 2015 was at New Beginnings Children's Center in Kenya. It had its ups and downs but all were blessings from the Lord. Take a look at our miracles in review. Glory to God for ALL that He has done! How can we not stand in awe of His faithfulness.

By the grace of God we have:

  • Fed over 177,600 meals.
  • Provided medical care to over 170.
  • Provided primary education to over 350 children.
  • Provided secondary education to over 75 students.
  • Provided job training for 5 students.
  • Provided new beds and bedding for over 160 children.
  • Provided uniforms, shoes, and clothing to 170 children.

By the power of God we:

  • Built a new boys dorm with 3 rooms, to house the boys according to age. Complete with a room for a house parent to attend to the boys needs, (This was after our metal dorm was ripped apart during a wind storm in Nov of 2014.)
  • Built a new girls dorm to provide housing for our older girls.
  • Built a new brick primary classroom for the children.
  • Made renovations to rooms for our secondary classrooms.
  • Built additional mission housing for short and long term missionaries use. These also serve as staff housing.

By the blessings of God we:

  • Had the opportunity to be blessed by 3 long term missionaries who completed a 9 month stay.
  • Were blessed by an intern who served, learned, and grew for 2 month at New Beginnings.
  • Were blessed by 8 short term missionaries who served the children and community.

By the wisdom of God we provided:

  • 5 upper level staff positions for the people of Kenya.
  • 13 primary teaching positions for the teachers of Kenya.
  • 8 secondary teaching positions for the teachers of Kenya.
  • 26 various labor positions for the people and community.

Not to mention hiring construction workers from the community. Purchasing supplies and services from the merchants of the community and surrounding area.
All providing jobs and income to a very impoverished people.

What God is doing is nothing short of a miracle and those who labor by giving and praying with us are all part of that miracle.

How do we ever thank you for all that you are doing by giving to Jesus in this very special way?
May God bless you and yours throughout this coming year.
THANK YOU!!

For 2016 we hope to do much more as we work to serve the impoverished orphans of this area that have no voice.

Mission Expedition 2016

"What will I do on a mission trip?"
That is often the question people ask.
The answer:  What is God calling YOU to do?
From construction work to Bible school, to medical care, to sharing the Gospel.
Our teams have done it ALL!

What is God calling you to do?
Not sure...take a step of faith and see what God shows up to do.
It will be more than you ever dreamed or imagined.

Our missionaries stay in missionary housing of brick construction on the secure grounds of our children's center in a very beautiful, remote area of Kenya.
Spend time immersed in the culture and lives of those who call New Beginnings Children's Center HOME.

School News

The 2016 school year starts this week. What a flurry of excitement as the classrooms are once again prepared for all the students that will attend at New Beginnings.

New Beginnings Primary School
God has been working miracles in the lives of our children as almost every single child who took the grade 8 KCPE exams past.

In fact, one student scored so well that he is within the top 100 students in all of Kenya.
We are so proud of what God is doing in Robert's life and the other students of our grade 8 class. The community and teachers have been stopping by New Beginnings this week, along with the students, to congratulate New Beginnings for having such a fantastic showing in the KCPE. Some attributed it to some staff changes at the school but we prefer to attribute it to the grace of God. To God be all the glory for what HE is doing in the lives of these children!!

Something new to this year will be a computer training lab for grade 1. This is a new requirement to the curriculum in the country of Kenya. We expect to have full enrollment in our classes for 2016. May God work His mighty hands in their lives.

Pray for the students and staff as they return for another faith filled year.
Pray for continued funds to provide better classrooms and more opportunities to the children.

Robert placed as one of the top 100 students in Kenya on his KCPE exams.

New Beginnings Secondary School
The secondary school has also had a flurry of excitement as they prepare to add the final level to their curriculum. This year the secondary school will offer Form 4 (Grade 12). In November we will see our first graduating class from New Beginnings Secondary School.
We hope to offer a more extensive chemistry and biology class, plus plans have been in the making to add a computer lab for our secondary school students. They are all very excited to learn how to use a computer.

With the help of our new principal, we feel this will be the best year yet for the secondary school.
Please pray for our students and staff for a great year!

The secondary classrooms are almost ready for another year!

Building News

What a blessing this past year was for building at New Beginnings. So much was accomplished. It didn't all go just according to our plans for building but according to God's own plans, when we had our boys' dorm destroyed by a wind storm in November of 2014. All plans had to come to a halt until the new boys dorm was completed. It is a beautiful dorm and the boys are much safer now and very happy.

We were able to continue to get one of our primary classrooms finished and it is also very beautiful. Plus other small projects around the center such as a new girls dorm, for the older girls. A temporary guard house was set in place. More mission housing was able to be done, that also serve to be staff housing for some of our staff.

However there is now great need to get more of our primary classrooms in place. The government of Kenya, in an effort to improve the learning across the nation, is now requiring that all schools with metal classrooms to be shut down. Our goal for 2016 is to place 4 additional brick primary classrooms to prove that we are working to the plans of the education offices. Can you help us to achieve this goal?

We also hope to add our new kitchen for New Beginnings. The current kitchen is too small and unsanitary to use much longer. Our plans are to have both the kitchen and dining hall attached.

Please keep our building projects in your prayers AND consider giving a gift. Help build for their future!

Child of the Month

Meet Darrian!

Darrian is three years old. He has just formally started school in Baby Class. He was born after a defilement. His mother also lives at New Beginnings. Darrian can speak 3 languages and is learning quickly in class. He is a very bright boy. He likes to play with the other children of New Beginnings. Darrian has had some health issue in the past and needs prayers for continued good health. He also need prayers to find a sponsor(s). He needs a partial sponsor for $20, $40, or $60. Is God calling you to help Darrian in some way? Be the difference in his life.

New Beginnings News

Although many of the children have gone to visit extended family this past month, it was still a very busy month at New Beginnings.

Our director's family, from the Nairobi area, came to visit and to serve the children of New Beginnings. What a blessing they were and we look forward to their returning in the near future. The children have fallen in love with each other. Praise God for their hearts and pray for their soon return.

So blessed to have you serve the Lord in this way!

Our staff was busy getting measurements and uniforms ready from OPERATION CHRISTMAS SHOES. While most of the uniforms are ready, the shoes still need to be purchased. Shoe sizes will be taken this week. We are so grateful for all the donations that have come in to
once again provide the children with new shoes, socks, and a school uniform. How happy the children will be to wear their new outfits to school. You have truly blessed the least of these by your giving. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

The gardens have been getting adequate water and good care. Soon they will provide the children with plenty of tomatoes, onions, and kale. What a tremendous blessing this will be for everyone. Praise God for water and a good growing season. Pray for protection from the elements.

A new addition came to live at New Beginnings. Crestline UMC in Crestline, Ohio, blessed NB with the funds to purchase our first milk cow. Her name is Blessing and she is a real blessing. She is about 3 months pregnant and will begin supplying the children with milk after the birth of her calf later this year. Pray protection over her. Praise God for those who gave, to make this possible at New Beginnings.

Our newest Blessing!
