As we prepare for the upcoming holidays, I hope you will take time to prepare your hearts. As you make room in your home for all the holiday decor and extra table settings to include everyone, remember to make room in your heart for Jesus. Don't let all the busyness distract you from finding time to worship HIM and make room for HIM. He is knocking. Will you answer?
This past year has been an amazing year of making room for Jesus. Every time we felt we were getting things under control and most of our children were sponsored, God changed things around and suddenly some who were sponsored were suddenly not sponsored when a few sponsors had life changing events.
As we began to work out how to care for those who were not sponsored, and search for new sponsors, our district children's office sent us some children in need of help. This included a boy with a learning disorder, two young children whose mother could no longer make ends meet. Another child was brought to us whose father recently passed, leaving her alone at home. Not much later a pregnant teen was brought to us. She was soon followed by 2 small children whose father was sent to jail, leaving them alone. They were followed by another special needs girl who appears to be autistic and in need of a safe place to live. And then another pregnant teen. Not too mention some boys who have come our way and we have cared for them and then sent our staff out to find their homes and returned them to their families. How do we turn them away?
Some days I just cry out to God that we cannot take any more, we are stretched too far, but the next day another child comes. How do you look into the eyes of a child who is desperate for help and tell them you are unable to help them? We are the only home for children in our district and the need is very great. If we turned them out, we would be turning Jesus away from these children. For most of them we are often the first place they have ever felt safe and secure when they lay their heads down to sleep at night. It is often the first time in their lives that they knew they would have food to eat each day. It is often the first time these children knew they could attend school everyday instead of working for food somewhere.
So why do we accept those children whom no one else wants? Why when it means we must stretch our means to care for them, find another bed, blanket, clothes, and food for one more? We do it because we have committed to find room for Jesus, wherever and when ever He comes. We are the first glimpse of Jesus to these children. We must make room for HIM by making room for them.
We cannot do it without YOU. Please consider making room for HIM this Christmas by making room for one of them. What can seem like a stretch for you or a sacrifice of some small amount, is the gift of HOPE to them. It means life knowing you are safe in exchange for a life of fear and uncertainty. YOU can make the difference.
This year we have 14 students who are finishing our sponsor program. Many of these children have been with us since they were very small. Without a sponsor who cared about them, their lives would have been very different. In an area where child trafficking is very high along with prostitution, some of these children might not be alive today without YOUR help. Some have faced illnesses and medical emergencies that would have gone untended without you, probably leading to death. Most would not have had an opportunity to finish grade school and providing for themselves would have become desperate, leading to selling themselves or theft to survive.
BUT for these 14, their future is very bright. Some will be accepted into universities and colleges, others are already seeking and finding job opportunities. Many are the first in their families to finish high school. As they say, "YOU have made me to be a somebody." Life for an orphan or desperate child means they are a nothing, but you have changed that so that now they are someone who can contribute to society. They are so very grateful. Thank you just never seems like it is enough to express the gratitude. Please know that to these children YOU are the most important person they will ever know. YOU have changed their life.
Can YOU find room for Jesus if it means you must give up something else? I hope your answer is YES.

Primary School
Our primary school is very pleased with the results of our students who took their national exams. Our school finished top in the district and sub county. A BIG thank you to our children and staff who worked very hard to make this happen. The future is looking very bright for all of our students who will move on to secondary school. WAY TO GO!! TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
Secondary School
We still await the results of our students national exams. We are believing that our students did very well. At this time we think we will have about 5 students who will make the mark to be accepted into a university. Please keep them in prayer as they await. Also pray for those who are accepted to have the funding to attend. We will keep you updated.

Next up on our list of needs for development is the need for our preschool classrooms.
Currently our 3 preschool classes are crowded into one classroom with a plywood divider between them. We have about 40 children attending and we are bursting at our seams with no room to grow. The excavation has begun but we cannot move forward without your help.
Here is what is estimated to be our need for our preschool.
(Please note: we have changed the way we will build according to what works best with our contractor. Instead of one classroom at a time, he prefers to build all of the foundation, walls, etc at the same time.)

Sharif will turn 12 at the end of Dec. He is a quiet boy who will start 7th grade in January. He is an average student who works hard. Sharif's mother has been sent to prison and his father has abandoned him to a step-mother, who neglects him. He has come to live at New Beginnings but is in great need of a sponsor. Please pray for Sharif. He has been waiting for over a year to hear the news, "You have a sponsor."

We will start out this January with 4 interns who will also be seeking scholarships.
This year's intern/scholarship recipients are George, Nicholas, Anne, and Robert.
These four will begin serving at New Beginnings in January and continue for about 6 months until going to university or colleges.
Things are looking so much brighter for these students because someone gave them a chance. Please keep them in prayer.

You can donate to the scholarship fund for a certain student or a general donation to the Scholarship Fund. If a student goes over and above what is needed, the funding will help another student in need.
If you have donated scholarship money to a certain student, we will do our best to get it to the school they choose. If the student decides to not attend a school, it will go to help other students who want to further their education.
Currently we have many children living at New Beginnings who have lost their sponsors or came as an emergency cases. These children can use either a partial or full sponsor.
