What a beautiful time it has been here at New Beginnings. Getting to see the children all back in school once again was a blessing. We sent several of our former students off to colleges and universities, while others had time off from school and came to serve at New Beginnings. It is always a blessing to have those who have been our children in the past come and serve as interns during their time off from colleges and universities.
I would like to share part of a letter that was given to me by one of our former students. I share it because it is not just me he is thanking but YOU their sponsors. YOU have changed these children's lives in so many ways. I just happen to be the one on the ground to serve and witness what God is doing in their lives.
From one of our former students:
"I am writing to express my gratitude for your kindness towards my life. You have always been a pillar towards my success and your compassionate love has always geared the progress of my endeavors. This reflects back when I was a student where you gave me natal care and guided me to become a godly man. Through your support, I have managed to secure both primary and secondary education, which has now seen me to one of our public universities. It is with much honor that I express my humbleness towards your help. Thank you.
After your provisions with education, you nurtured my adulthood life as an intern. I gained much skills under your care and direction which saw me to become a responsible man, respecting all and most importantly, to be God fearing. I give thanks to the Almighty for having placed you at the center of our lives and may you find favor in His presence for you have served many lives with a lot of care and love. Despite the many challenges you have faced, you have stood firm and strong because the love you have for us pushes you on everyday."
Only God can touch a life to share like this and we thank God for each of you who has given unselfishly to help a child. Some of you might never meet these children here on this earth but I assure you, they will find you to thank you in heaven one day.

We have weekly prayer requests going out. We have also started something new - gathering for a time of fellowship and prayer. We would be honored to come to your location, whether it is at your home or church, for a gathering. They are just very blessed times and we appreciate them so much.
We have brought several new children into our primary school who are in great need of sponsors. Currently they are not sponsored, but we are covering their school tuition to attend school until we can find them a sponsor. So many of these children are in desperate situations and without help they will have no chance of a positive future. Please keep them all in prayer.

We are happy to announce that we should have some space to take a few gifts with us when the team travels this July. If you would like to give your child a small gift along with a letter and photo, please have it in our office by May 30. It must fit in a gallon-size ziplock baggie labeled with your child's name. If you are able, we would also appreciate a monetary donation of $15 to cover the cost of a play uniform.
If you prefer to have us select a gift for your child once we are in Kenya, a donation of $25 will cover the cost of gifts and a play uniform. Consider giving for one or more children. Donations accepted through the end of July. As always, please contact us if you have any questions!
We could still use shorts for our soccer uniforms in black or purple. Any size especially adult sizes small and medium are needed.
We are still collecting undergarments. Our greatest need is for bras and camisoles (with the inner bra). We also need PJ's. These can be new or gently used. Our girls really appreciate these and put them to good use.
Can YOU host a gathering? A gathering is a special time for fellowship and prayer for what God is doing at New Beginnings. They are easy and a great blessing. Our primary and secondary schools have finished the second semester for most of the students. For grades 8 and 12, they have finished the year. It is a little chaotic with the students working on two different semesters but everyone is taking it in stride. Our 8th grade has finished their national exams and await the results. Our 12th grade are in the midst of their exams that take almost a full month. Keep them in prayer.
Our biggest building need is classrooms for our preschool. We are sure our small space for our preschool will stop us from holding class for our youngest children once the schools reopen. YOUR HELP IS AN URGENT NEED!! Please help us meet our goals so that we can continue to serve our children and the children of this community that attend our preschool.

Recently we have had several of our high school graduates contact us who are in great need of help to go the next step. For some as they finish our program, they have found jobs or family that will help them get to the next step but sometimes our graduates really need just that extra hand up.
We have decided that with the help of many of you we can help these young people go on to a vocational school to help them reach that next level. If you would like to give to help these graduates, your one-time or monthly donation of any size will make it possible. Currently we have 2 young ladies who are waiting for the opportunity to take that next step. If you would like to help either one, I know it would be greatly appreciated.
Jane is one of our high school graduates who really tried to go on her own. She is a total orphan and her aunt, who is technically her guardian, is unable to help her go further. Jane is the mother to one of our youngest children, Amara. She is really trying hard to stay connected with her daughter but is unable to care for her needs.
UPDATE: Jane is now attending a school to get her diploma in Social Work. She is so grateful for the help she has received to start her first semester. She is still in need of support to see her the rest of the way through. If you would like to donate just mark it "Next Step/Scholarship Program". Thanks for giving a hand up.
Sharon is one of our high school graduates who has really tried to move forward on her own but has not succeeded. She too is a total orphan and although she has been able to find various odd jobs since she graduated, she has not been able to earn what is needed to attend a vocational school to specialize in accounting and bookkeeping, which is what she would really like to do in her life.
UPDATE: Sharon is currently serving at New Beginnings as an intern and taking a computer class. She is awaiting donations to attend school for accounting. Consider a monthly or one time donation to help Sharon.
Other college/university students that are currently receiving help to continue on are Brighton, Geoffrey, Nicholas, Timothy, Robert, and George. Please pray for these students as they continue their education. May God use each of them to change the world.
Currently we have many children living at New Beginnings who have came in as emergency cases through our children's office.
