Dear Friends,
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For changing lives!!
Check out what has been happening:
Two of our students just received their diplomas—both of them total orphans. Once they had little hope for the future, but now, they have a new beginning. These stories are at the heart of why we do what we do. THANK YOU!
Our schools continue to grow and have caught the attention of other education offices. Many are amazed at how a small school in such a remote area—where most families are farmers and fishermen—is sending so many students on to universities and colleges. 16 out of 22 high school graduates are heading to universities. THANKS to you and the hard work of our students God is changing lives.
When one student continues their education, it doesn’t just change their life—it transforms their family and even their entire village. While people in Kenya are known for being caring and generous, our local community has very little to give. Your support is changing that. By helping one child, you're helping to change a whole community. THANK YOU!
We have several teams currently praying and preparing to travel with us to Kenya. Two teams are trained and ready to leave for Kenya next month for what promises to be a life-changing experience. Other teams are planning for trips next year. THANK YOU!
Consider joining one of the teams OR bring another team. Some will work on plumbing and building needs; others will work directly with children. All will have an opportunity to go into the community. And all trips include 2 days of BIG game Safari. Whatever your gifts, there’s a place for you.
Our Child Welfare Department is doing an incredible job finding homes for children who have no safe place to go during school breaks. Their motto, "Every child needs a home," drives them to work tirelessly to ensure no child is left without one. When you help a child who lives with us during school. A family can often care for the child during school breaks. THANK YOU!!
We’re still working hard to raise funds for a much-needed new dining hall. The cost is more than we anticipated. Please consider a gift today to help “Build for Their Future.” We also have a need for more dormitories.
We’re taking steps to offset operational expenses and build sustainability:
• School/Community Store – Our store is currently used by students, staff, and the community. We're hoping to grow it into a full community space with seating, a TV for watching soccer and news, and a fenced-in area for safety. We have a veranda built—we just need funds for ta-bles, chairs, and a TV.
• Boarding Students – Our school is attracting students who wish to board. These paying stu-dents will help cover staffing costs and enable us to offer better salaries—attracting more skilled teachers and students.
• Safari Business – Our safari venture is now open! All mission trips include a 2-day safari, but we also offer private safaris for interested travelers. This initiative is a potential source of in-come for the center. Help us spread the word!
• Future Projects – We have other plans in the pipeline as funds become available. Please keep praying and consider supporting us in making New Beginnings more self-sustaining.
We invite you to become more involved as a volunteer! Here are some ways you can help:
• Host a fundraising dinner in your area
• Bring a team to Kenya to visit the children and serve
• Assist with marketing and outreach
• Making bookbags
• Purchase a new uniform for a child
Here is a child in need of a sponsor, for you to pass on to someone you know. Share how just $25 a month can make a change in their life that we cannot even imagine.
Maurine is 16 and in 9th grade. She is a total orphan and also lost her grandmother whom she was living with. She just wants a chance in life. Is God calling you to help Maureen?
Sponsoring Maurine provides her with a home, meals, medical care, and an education (school tuition, school supplies, activity fees). You can sponsor Maurine fully or partially. Either way you’ll be making a huge difference in her life.
Your involvement can make a lasting difference. Help us continue changing lives.
Thanks for all you are doing. We can never THANK YOU enough.
God bless you abundantly,
Gaye Makrias
